Romania’s leading proximity supermarket chain Profi

 

MidEuropa invested in Romania’s leading proximity supermarket chain Profi in February 2017, after having been engaged with management for the previous two years. Since the investment, the firm has been rolling out hundreds of stores per year as it brings high-quality local products to people across the cities and countryside of Romania through its combination of standard, convenience and small-town outlets.

Profi is growing rapidly in an underpenetrated retail market in Romania. Its national footprint and roll-out success mean it is well recognised, while MidEuropa’s experience with Polish supermarket chain Zabka means management can apply learnings to improve operational efficiency. The firm now operates over 1,600 stores across the country, making it Romania’s largest supermarket chain.
