In mid 2007 Mid Europa, acting as co-leader of a private equity consortium alongside AIG, acquired a large minority stake in Globtel, the leading mobile telephony operator in Slovakia, which was rebranded Orange Slovensko in 2003. Orange was awarded its GSM licence in 1997 as the second GSM operator in Slovakia.
Mid Europa’s investment in Orange Slovensko was sold to France Telecom in October 2005.
