In June 2010 Mid Europa acquired a strategic stake in Energy 21, the largest independent operator of solar power (photovoltaic) plants in Central and Eastern Europe. At the time of the acquisition, Energy 21 had an installed generation capacity of 26 megawatts in the Czech Republic, and currently operates an installed base of approximately 62 megawatts.

In October 2011, Mid Europa acquired an additional stake in the Company from the founding shareholders, increasing its shareholding to 95%.
