Jacques de Larosière
Chairman of the Advisors

Mr de Larosière's career as an international civil servant and banker spans nearly 40 years. He has been Advisor to BNP Paribas' Chairman since 1998. Prior to that, he was President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development from 1993 to 1998. From 1987 to 1993 he was Governor of the Banque de France, since which time he has been made Honorary Governor. From 1990 to 1993 he was Chairman of the Committee of Governors, Group of Ten. From 1978 to 1987 he was Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund. During the '60s and '70s Mr de Larosière worked as an international civil servant, notably for Valery Giscard d'Estaing (then Minister of Economics and Finance), and became Under Secretary for Monetary Affairs at the French Treasury (Directeur du Tresor).
Mr de Larosière attended Paris University, Institut d'Etudes Politiques and Ecole Nationale d'Administration. He is a member of the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, and an honorary member of the Societe des Cincinnati de France.
