Aster

In March 2006 Mid Europa, alongside Aster's management team, acquired 100% of the Company. Aster is Poland's first quadruple-play service provider, offering television, broadband internet and mobile and fixed line telephony services. Aster was the first operator to introduce digital CATV services, triple and quadruple-play, and with approximately 380,000 subscribers, it is the fourth largest CATV operator and the third largest broadband Internet service provider in Poland. Aster operates a state-of-the art 750/862 MHz network with 856,000 homes passed, and is unique among the Polish CATV operators in that it uses one primary head-end in each city. Following substantial upgrades over the last four years, over 90% of the network is capable of providing triple play services.
Mid Europa Partners' history with Aster and its management initiated through an investment made by Fund I, together with two other private equity investment firms in March 2003. Fund I's investment in Aster was sold to funds managed by Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst in October 2004.
